The Cutting Crew - name me one of their songs which wasn't '(I Just) Died In Your Arms'. OK, so you may have got 'I've Been In Love Before' but how about 'One For The Mockingbird' and '(Between A) Rock And A Hard Place?
This is a fantastic compilation, which has left me wondering why the Cutting Crew weren't a particularly successful band. Their album 'Broadcast' spent only 6 weeks on the chart and peaked at number 41. Criminal really for a band with so many good songs.
'Everything But My Pride' is just gorgeous, a really beautiful song of love gone sour while 'Tip Of Your Tongue' will have you tapping along with perhaps even a rhythmic nod of the head.
There's just about everything you could want from a band here, big rocky anthems in 'One For The Mockingbird,' ligher waving in 'Christians' and 'Reach For The Sky' and even a touch of Motown(ish) with 'If That's The Way You Want It.'
I would recommend you go and buy this album, and discover a band which is almost a lost treasure. Perhaps the resurgence of 80s culture and the growing popularity of the bands might get them out there gigging. They ought to be.
