WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT THEN?
Well, I've written a book about the 80s. it's called 'Remember
The 80s - Now That's What I Call Nostalgia' and my publisher
describes it as 'an unashamed look at the best and the
worst of the decade that brought us Madonna, Jive Bunny,
Sinclair ZX computers, Margaret Thatcher, A Flock of Seagulls,
Duran Duran, legwarmers, the Walkman, breakdancing, Fame,
Brat Pack movies, the Rubik's cube and countless other icons
that changed pop culture for ever'. Which sounds about
right!
SO
IS IT JUST A BOOK VERSION OF THIS WEBSITE?
Not really. The website is all about updating the 80s and
bringing you all the latest 'where are they now' news from
the bands and artists who shaped the decade. The book is
a total nostalgia exercise. Some of the interviews from
the website appear in the book but the majority of the content
is all new!
SO,
WHOSE 80s IS IT ALL ABOUT?
Well, it's a journey through the decade as I saw it and
remember it, but it also uses hundreds of quotes and memories
from other people too; from the stars who helped define
the decade to the people who read this website who submitted
their memories while the book was being written. So it's
really about all our 80s...
HAVE
YOU USED ANY OF THE MEMORIES I SUBMITTED WHEN YOU WERE WRITING
THE BOOK?
I hope so! I received hundreds and hundreds of memories
from the people who read this website. I matched them all
to the text of the book and then passed everything to the
publisher who did the final edit. We have used loads and
loads of them but probably not everyone is represented.
IS
IT ALL MUSIC?
No it isn't. There's a lot of stuff about music, including
the UK number one albums and singles for each year of the
80s, but there's loads of other stuff too; television, films,
sport, politics, fashion, fads, games, news, technology...
there's a bit of everything basically, something for everyone
I hope!
ANY
PICTURES?
Oh yes... hundreds of them and all in full colour. Some
of them come from me, some by the people featured in the
book, some by people who read this website and loads which
have been sourced from picture agencies (lots that I've
never seen before so hopefully there will be some surprises
for you too!).
AND
MARTIN FRY FROM ABC HAS WRITTEN THE INTRODUCTION?
Yes he has. He's a very nice man.
WILL
IT BE AVAILABLE IN THE SHOPS?
Yes it will. It's published by Anova Books' Portico imprint
and will be in all good UK bookshops. If they don't have
it they should be able to order it for you very easily.

HOW
BIG IS THE BOOK?
It's a 176-page 280mm x 205mm hardback book. Big and quite
heavy which
impacts on postage and packing costs, particularly to countries
outside Europe. In fact even after I have subsidised the
postage and packing costs from the price of the book Airmail
to those destinations costs almost as much as the book itself.
As a result I have introduced a 'Surface Mail' option which
is far more cost effective but means that your order may
take 6-8 weeks to arrive...
Obviously
I'd love you to buy direct from me but in the interests
of fairness if you're in the US or Japan you would pay less
shipping if you bought from AMAZON
USA or AMAZON
JAPAN... they don't offer signed copies though!
